Here in North Carolina they started the Powerball back in May. I have only been playing for two months. Some friends and I pool;there are 5 of us. We have won $100.00 once. That is the most we have won so far. And we have won free tickets alot. We only play when the money gets up around 100mil.
We will be getting pick three and four at the end of September here. Not sure if I will play that and forget the powerball. Playing in a pool saves alot of money because I know alot of people that blow alot of money each play. I'm talking like $50.00 each time. That's crazy.
I do it for fun and of course hope to win, but I don't go overboard and spend alot of money. Some people are obsessed with it.

I love it when people say, "Nah, the pot is only 32 million. I only play when it's 60 or 70 million." As if 32 million, or 44 million, or 10 million, or even one million, is just chump change to them.
There is this guy down here who is a prick. He owns a huge indoor flea market, treats the venders like crap, has ruined people completely by putting them out of business just for the power trip, treated my mother like crap and told her she one hour to clean out her booth and leave the property and her her escorted out by a guard, and has done a lot to hurt a lot of people. The ******* was rich so of course he enjoys stepping on people. And then this rich ******* won the lottery. He was a millionaire already, and used his money and power to step on people who had neither...and on top of that he won the lottery. That really pisses me off.
It sucks that I never win the damn lottery. I should win. I deserve to win. And it sucks that I never win. I guess I should buy a ticket, that may increase my chances. I have played a few times, though not often. The last time I played was a couple of months ago, and it was the first time I played in years. I bought 20 regular lottery tickets, then some quick picks and Fantasy Five stuff. I figured I'd probably not win the millions, but it wouldn't be so bad to win 50 or 100 thousand. Even 10,000 would have been nice. Heck, 500 would have been nice. But I didn't win. Not a mill, not a thou, not a hundred, not a dime.
So Javen, if you won the Powerball, what are you plans, or intentions? What do you want to buy, do, carry out, ect? What kind of car do you want to drive? House? Location? Company? Production?

I only play Powerball and only when the Force says to.
I'd take care of all my friends. :D
No, really. I enjoy poverty. I feel if everyone had a little bit more people could be happy.

Well, the reason we only play when it gets bigger is not because 15, 30, or 50 mil is not good enough. It's because the Powerball seems to always rollover and no one hardly wins on the small pots. Although, I guess I wouldn't consider that small, but you know what I mean.
If I won, here are three things I would do first.
Get a financial advisor
Change my phone number
Move
I also would give at least 80% of my winnings away to people and places of my choice. That would include children's hospitals and such.
Start a movie Production company.
Go places I have never been. In the US or over seas.
Meet everyone on the interent that I am friends with and leave a tip when I leave.
Of course the natural wants. I would get a nice but not huge house with a basement and a fenced in yard and large field in the back. A new Camaro because I love Camaro's and mine I have now is a 1992. I would also buy a 1968 Camaro.
Buy a couple of horses, a parrot and another dog.
Get a new guitar(maybe two or three) and ...a BIG amp.
Give to all three of my brother's and mother.
After that I should be free of bills and broke and use my last dollar to buy a another Powerball ticket.;)

If I am lucky enough to win you can have more than a couple of bucks.

If I won the powerball...
I'd buy a nice new car
travel overseas first to Egypt then do Europe and north America.
give about half to children charities and institutions to help the poor and needy
get rid of that yucky awful horrible stupid student loan hanging around like a bomb ready to fall.
expand my sw collection
donate for cancer research
share the dough all around (but then, they tried that in russia didn't work so well really so maybe no)
and of course leave a bit for all my mates here on the gs!

I don't have Powerball here, but I do play the Florida Lottery on occasion.

I don't usually play. But tonight I'm playing the weekly Texas Lotto. My sister was in a car accident and is going to need several thousand dollars for surgery to repair a broken forearm. I figure the luck's gotta turn around. It's up to 8 or 9 million.

I won $15 once in the Montana Lottery (...yay...) then went and bought more tickets with the money and won nothing. :)

I play the Mega Millions from time to time. Problem is that I look younger than I am, so I keep getting carded when I buy the tickets.

Well, good sportsmanship dictates that it's not whether you win or lose that counts, but how you play the game. That should count for something. :p

I never pay attention to how much the lottery is, and radomly buy tickets while on a booze run, because the lottery register is right by the exit at the local liquor store.
I may be playing for just a million, or $150 million, I don't know until I leave the store and check out the signs in the window that display the amount.
If I ever won, well it would be sweet, of course. What would I do? Here's a plan if it's only a million:
-Pay off all debt
-Buy a house, in cash, for about $500,000
-Help out some family that have pressing fainancial issues
-Big time European vacation
-Invest in some high end video production equipment and become partners with my videographer buddy and expand the business

You forgot to add 'buy more booze' to the list.

Heh, heh...I didn't think I'd need to put that on a list. Hell, I do that now with no lottery money.

If I won the lottery, I'd set up a drinking contest between the Galactic Senate and the TFN Jedi Council....

I was just thinking about the lottery thread, and here it lays... dead.
I am mad someone won the 275,000,000 Powerball here. Because it wasn't me. Now it's back down to 15,000,000 again.

Because that really wouldn't be enough? :)
Actually, being offered 275m, then only 15m, then no, that would not be enough.
Blizzard

$276.3 million, was won in West Virginia by a single winner.
Actually $15m is before taxes over 30 years. If you take the immediate cash option of 7.6 million minus 40% in taxes you aren't even left with enough to buy a nice mansion, let alone one for each of your friends. :D

Just joking of course...:innocent:

The way I see it, I'm too young right now to take the cash option. You make more with the payment plan and I'm young enough that I'd probably actually live through the whole 30 years.

I could be wrong but I think the UK lottery winnings are tax free. Still, I'm not a lucky person so I don't bother wasting my money and playing it.

If I won the multi-million lottery (versus smaller winnings of a few thousand dollars) I'd breath a heavy sigh of relief. Then get on my knees and thank God. First thing I'd do with the money in the bank is pay off my immediate debts. 2nd thing, buy a new car and say goodbye to my piece of crap lemon. 3rd, give a chunk to my temple and pay for a year's expenses.
In no definate order:
-Buy my roommate a new car.
-Buy my boss something nice, for all the help he'd given me.
-Buy insurance for Blizz's son, and something really nice for Blizz.
-Pay back my friends who recently sent me money to help me out in my time of need.
-Organize a grand event, possibly at Orlando Florida, and fly in all the regular GS posters (those who post all the time who call the GS home), put them in nice hotels, and cover all their meals.
-Buy some proper skins for the Senate, dark in color, so I can stop staring into a white screen that bothers my eyes.
-Buy a nice house in West Palm Beach.
-Finance the publishing and distribution of my first novel, at least, if not all of them or simply turn the burden over to a publishing company after I get my first one off the ground.
-Finance a film version of one or all of my novels.
-Buy a boat.
-Join a gym and get a personal trainer, and get into shape.
-Buy my mother, who I cremeted, a decent mosoleum.
-Fly my father, who is buried in NY, down and put him and her side by side.
-Dine many nights on much sushi.
-Build some sort of homeless shelter for the homeless in my neighborhood and surrounding towns.
