Okay, here's the situation. The powers that be have executed the single most awesomely cool move in history.
They've picked YOU to be the creator of a television series based on the New Jedi Order series.
So, what are you going to do? How are you going to create it?
In this thread, discuss what you would do if you were the creator of a New Jedi Order televisions series. Questions you should consider (but it's not necessarily limited to these):
Live action or animation?
If animation, what type (computer, anime, cartoon, etc...)?
What would you leave out of the story?
What would you put in?
etc, etc, etc...
Well, guys? What would you do?

I'll have to think about this more, but live action definetly. The trouble would be casting the OT characters.

<span style="color:blue">Age wise the actors are about the right age. The only one of the big three actors I see having a hard time coming back would be Ford, but his lack of anything good in so long could whip him in. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whip.gif </span>

Isn't Hamil kinda out of shape? And last time I saw Carie Fisher, she sounded like a man and didn't look that great. But neither of them have careers, so I don't think it would be that hard to reel them in, now that I think about it.

The actor situation is why I would go for animation. It's been 29 years since ANH came out, but Mark Hamil does not look the same as Luke Skywalker would look at 29ABY (The Unifying Force). Nor does Carrie Fisher or Harrison Ford. The experiences the actors have had changed the way they look, just as the experiences the characters have had. For example, unlike Carrie Fisher, Leia did not spend most of her life smoking/on drugs/etc. Leia would be much better health and upkeepwise. You also have to factor in the much better health care in the GFFA. "60 is the new 40" and all that.
Were I to create a New Jedi Order series, I'd go for animation in the Timmverse style. It's realistic without going too far into realism and cartoony without being silly.

Well, whatever I do, I won't rehash what already took place in the books, with a twist on it that completely contradicts. *coughCloneWarscough*

<span style="color:blue">Carrie's a writer. She's written four novels, a screenplay, and does script doctor work. Hamil does a lot voice acting such as the Joker for the DC Animated Universe shows. So you could actually have Carrie do script work besides acting.</span>

Yeah, and Hamil could do voiceoves for, ya know...himself... Still doesn't solve the problem of their physical appearance. Some good makeup artists, hopefully, could help, though.
But I did not know that about Carrie Fisher. Interesting.

Yeah, that did alright. Didn't look perfect, but it would work. Probably pretty expensive. But, this is a dream world, right?

I'd LOVE for it to be live action, which I believe would make it that much better, because i think it would work very well in such a dark time of the universe. But, as DS has said, it'd be very tough getting the original actors back in character, if they were willing.
If it had to be animation, I would go for 3D all the way, but a stylized realism, more along something you'd see in comic books or something, definitely not a cartoon style at all, because this is a time period that HAS to be realistic looking. Yeah, the Clone Wars cartoon was really cool, but it's definitely not on par emotionally with the NJO. I'm sure this would make it a lot more likely for the original actors to come back and do voice-over work, which wouldn't require them to get back in shape and everything
I'd love to see it, thought I doubt it would happen. We know there's 19 books, so you could devote maybe 3 or 4 eps per book, depending on how interesting the story is. So based on 22 eps a season, maybe an hour long each, that would give us close to 80 eps, so about 4 seasons worth of episodes. I think that would work out pretty well, yeah?

I would make it live action and I think it would have to be a BIG budget show, mean all the effects and stuff to make it look SW authentic!:duel:

For live-action all the Yuuzhan Vong technology would be a hell of a daunting task to accomplish. I mean, the inside of their ships move and pulsate and stuff. But if it could be done, I'd go live-action. But CG would work, I'd go for an as realistic style as possible.
I'd keep the show as close to the books as was possible. Definitely some scenes may not be necessary in a visual medium and some dialogue may be modified, but for the most part you'd see what was written on the pages of the books.
I think, though, I'd occasionally have flashback episodes that gave background on some of the characters, like Kyp or Corran and stuff, seeing as they have big parts in sections of the series. Could be a way to break up story arcs. Between each story arc, have a flashback episode about somebody.
