Greetings,
Nice board you have here. I have a couple of sites that specialize in Star Wars ship design and deckplanning.
The Gallery can be found here;
Star Wars Design Alliance (http://swda.art-of-void.de/news.html)
The Forums can be found here;
Star Wars Design Alliance Forums (http://com2.runboard.com/bswdaforums)
We are a growing community and have several extremely talented artists working on various ships in the Star Wars Universe. We do not exclude sources based on personal opinion of their origin. If it is Star Wars, then we will embrace it. If it is accurate and detailed, we will be happy to post it in our gallery.
Our Gallery is brand new and we have a few items already on it, like a newly designed Nella 342, the A wing starfighter, and even R2D2.
The Forum is primarily designed to show works in progress of the items we will eventually post in the gallery. So far, we have accumulated a very large database of links and reference material and we already have several ships in progress, like the following;
CR-90 (6 pixels :1 foot)
Moldy Crow (12 pixels : 1 foot)
KDY Corona Transport (6 pixels : 1 foot)
V-35 Landspeeder (30 pixels : 1 foot)
YT-2000 (6 pixels : 1 foot)
as well as many others, original and canon.
We are dedicated to research and development of accurate schematics and blueprints of all the ships, vehicles, components as well as many other things.
Come on over and take a look! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif
Kind regards,
Lucas
I've checked the links. I'll be keeping an eye on it as it has what I like. Designs.

Lucas do you guys work with the Deckplans Alliance or Colonel Chrome?

The reason I ask is bacause your artwork looks a lot like the stuff I have seen on these sites:
http://www.colonialchrome.co.uk/
http://deckplans.00sf.com/
Are you affiliated with these guys?

as you know THX-1138 (aka Frank V Bonura) we were at one time affiliated.
We are in the process of moving away from the style that you refined and are in the process of updating the gallery images to the new colour pallette and design specifications which are currently in development.
The Style is similar to yours and some components are borrowed from some of your ships - with your encouragement at the time actually (and under fair use), but that will not be the case for long.
We have no affiliation with Colonial Chrome at this time, but we have been in contact with "The Admiral" on some occasions.
regards,
Lucas
Yeah that's a sweet YT-2000... love to see that in 3D. Keep up the good work.

Some of my favorite designs came from Deckplans and the Design Forum. I like the Corona Transport (though I originally said it should look different) and I love the Ghtroc 720. And I have ideas (story and rpg) for this one...
17261
17262
17263
But I have no computer skills. I'm surprised if these actually come through right.
My idea is for an Empress modified with better ion drives and hyperdrives (including a backup), armor plating, shields, better sensor suite, and two quad laser turrets dorsal and two ventral. Possibly a secondary power core to provide the needed energy for the shields and weapons. And the loss of even 10,000 metric tons of cargo space is minimal in comparison to the large cargo capacity and the protection from raiders.
I have ideas of what things the captain would manage to obtain and how he can get some pretty sweet deals on things. Running things for KDY and CEC and others that are sctrictly hush hush. Things KDY and others would rather not have exposed to a convoy of super freighters or taken by pirates or rebels.
Okay, a changeup...er...maybe a curveball.
I'm rewriting a FanFic I had started sometime last year and I'm going to use the Cargo Empress I want as the main supply line for a small Rebel starfighter unit some time shortly after the Battle Of Hoth. Its currently billed as Red Dragon (the story, not the Empress), but I'll be changing that.
The Empress will be called Solarium. I do need some help with a sensor package for her. Anyone have a makeshift listing of possible commercially available and black market sensor suites with common ranges? I was thinking of a "surplus" KDY package leftover from the construction of Super Transport XI container ships. But I wouldn't object to some defined parameters in this area.
The stock set-up on the Cargo Empress' is as follows:
Passive:15/0D
Scan:30/1D
Search:40/2D
Focus:2/2D
I would rather have something more like this:
Passive:30/1D
Scan:40/2D
Search:50/2D+2
Focus:4/3D
Let me know if there are any lists out there that bring some order to the anarchy of SW RPG sensor suites. And let me know if anyone wants to take a stab at the Solarium. I know some of the stats I'm looking for, and none of it so unreasonable as to make the ship a source of Imperial military scrutiny.

Lovin the superfreighter

I love the ship for some odd reason. Perhaps its because of how much she could be modified into a top combat-ready freighter and still have loads of room for cargo. She just needs the right designers to get ahold of her and make her up right.
Better hull plating, better shield generators and emitters, stronger ion drive, a backup hyperdrive, the sensor suite, and some weapon emplacements (Corellian quad laser turrets; two on top and two on bottom)...that would make her a major player in any area of space. Hauling at least 25,000 tons of goods and being able to operate alone, without any sort of escort. And she could definantly move with the beefed up ion drives. It'd be great being a crewer on a ship like that. Han and Chewie, eat your hearts out.

They aren't my work. So I can not take any credit for the job well done. The creator's name is in the bottom right corner, Frank Bonura. He did the work. Frank, am I mistaken or was there a second name on there? An assistant or colorist?
Anyways, the job is top notch. I could never do anything like that with my level of computer talent, not to mention my resources.

Brandon Koller and Sean Callahan also worked on the Empress class project. Thank you for giving us credit Bradden.:bye:

Not a problem, Frank.
I love the work you guys have done. As I said, I haven't the talent to do these designs. So I differ to you and the various skilled men and women that can draw up these marvelous plans.
I am still hoping that someone will take up the charge and draw a plan for me. I have added another area to be rolled into the design...
An oversized cabin once meant for a luxury suite for the captain turned into a briefing room complete with a modest holo-projector at its center (smaller than the one in ROTJ). Anyone up to the challenge?

Nice designs Lucas.
Of course, I'm still hopeful for someone to step forward and handle the Empress project for that story I've been trying to concoct for over a year. It would please me to no end to see my dream coming to life.
There will be a nice twist to the stories end, should I ever manage to get that far.

Braden I am in the middle of a minor overhaul of the Cargo Empress. It should be done this summer. When done, we will speak again.
