Another new book by Tim Zahn

It's a report from the DragonCon earlier this month. The author of the article says Tim Zahn confirmed he would be writing another SW book after the one about the Outbound Flight Project! This one about Luke and Mara during the Young Jedi Knight/Junior Jedi Knight years. They don't get to the books until quite a ways down the article.

If it's true, I myself am extremely excited! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif How about everyone else?

It's true, and it's been tossed around for months now. It's nice that Del Rey's decided to go back and tidy up some of Bantam's messes, but they may have gone just a little too far with this and Tatooine Ghost. Do we really need to know what Mara's up to while the JJK/YJK series are going on? I was content on believing that she was on Coruscant helping with the Master/Apprentice pairings, and that Luke's "special missions" for the New Republic were actually trips to Coruscant to be with her. I liked that. But I guess LucasBooks and Del Rey weren't satisfied with that explination.

Just like they aren't satisfied about Leia and Han's decision to have children, and Leia discovering tidbits about her father's past life as a Tatooine slave for a Toydarian junk dealer. Do we really need a book for her to find that out? It seems like overkill, and there's always the possibility of slight timeline infractions. Why risk it?

It's nice that we're getting new stuff from these two eras, but I still question whether either is truly necessary.

(P.S. I would like to see Zahn ink Mara Jade's backstory after Episode III releases, but until then, I'm still happy with what he's already done.)

Zahn is the only one, IMO, that has every brought Mara's feel out correctly.

Its good that OBFP is going to involve Obi an Ani, but I can't get into the Prequel EU as well as the post ROTJ and NJO novels. But the Prequel Movie Novels are much better than the ones for the OT.

Well, definately! I don't really care what happens in the book. It's a SW book by Timothy Zahn! (I think I said the same thing when discussing the OBFP book.) And the fact that he's going to be writing Mara again is, like, BONUS!

And JTS, I don't know any Mara fan who wouldn't like to see Zahn pen Mara's back story. That would be very cool! style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif

maybe..especially since she disappeares for the entire YJK/JJK series

(that was one of my pet peeves...and is hwy i penned the first part of a fanfic that runs the same timeperiod (arc) of the YJK )

I'd like to find out about Mara's childhood, and how she got taken away from her parents. Maybe her father or mother was a character from Ep 1 or 2 (or 3, it'll be out by the time this book comes out).
