There are 19 books in the NJO, 5 are hard covers. The last one is called "The Unifying Force" and will be written by James Luceno.
The NJO will end in 2003. But Del Rey has a contract through 2005 and many more books covering many other things in the universe are yet to be written.
And Boba Fett will appear in the NJO. Cool!

I know that's what Luceno said. But Shelley Shapiro says it's Unifying. She posted it in the Starwars.com forums. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif

Yep. The title is referring to that particular element of the Force, not a merger of any kind, or so we're told.

Also, on the Official Site's forums it was announced that the bridge novel between the Force Heretic series and The Unifying Force will be written by Greg Keyes (author of the Edge of Victory series and the Emissaries of the Void miniseries in SW Gamer).
The title of the bridge novel is unknown thus far.

How do you guys feel about Luceno writing the final HC? I was hoping they'd get Zahn to do it, and when I heard it was Luceno... *style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko.gif I mean, I enjoyed CLoak of Deception but I think that the Agents of Chaos duology are the weakest books in the NJO. Oh, Well... ???

As far as my opinion of Luceno I think he's a pretty good choice. Much better than Zahn would be for this story. We're going to need someone very intimately involved with the NJO and SW as a whole and Luceno is one of the best. I wouldn't trust Stackpole with this if I had any say in the matter which of course I don't. Zahn even moreso than Stackpole.
On Greg Keyes doing another SW novel I think it's a good choice. Conquest was the first SW novel I'd really enjoyed since DTO. He's a very engaging writer, for me at least. After Rebel Stand Keyes book will probably be the first book I will honestly look forward to. While Stover might be a good author I'm leary about him and SW, a similar view for Walter Jon Williams.
For Sean Williams and Shane Dix anybody who's book is praised by KJA is questionable for me.
Starting with the NJO with Troy Denning my view of DR's choices is steadily going down and while this is outside the NJO a bit, LFL and DR's moves outside and past the NJO inspire anything but confidance in me.

I believe Zahn is going to be doing a new SW novel, according to rumors around the Net. However, what that will be about, and whether it will be the New Jedi Order or not remains to be seen. Personally, I'd like to see Stackpole make a return.
Greg Keyes writing another book is interesting. I hadn't heard that before.. Guess I need to check out the Official Site forums more often. Luceno's finale should be good. I thought he did a GREAT job with Agents of Chaos. He did such a good job handling the emotions of Han and bringing Droma in was perfect. This series is starting to get interesting again, but I'm still leery of where the series is going, and where it will end.
Now we just need those Ep.II/III bridge novels....

Actually, a reliable source over on the official site's Books and Comics forum just confirmed that his books will not be TNJO at all. One will be Prequel Era and one will be Classic Trilogy era. Neither will be published until 2006.

Isn't he supposed to be dead? Or do I need to read more books. I just can't see the purpose unless they made another clone?

Boba Fett 'dies' in Return of the Jedi, when he falls into the Sarlacc pit. However, in 'Tales of the Bounty Hunters' we're given a story that tells of his escape and rescue by Dengar. A rather interesting story, but weak plot if you ask me.
But there have been rumors about Fett making an appearance in the NJO.

There is not one bit of truth and there never was of Boba Fett being in the NJO so far. Specifically there is no truth to Fett being in VP in any form. It's a fan joke that has gotten WAY out of hand and gone farther than anybody could have guessed.
Now if Fett shows up in a future NJO book that's different. I don't believe he's in DJ or either EL books, I haven't gotten to them yet, I'm behind on the novels.
Fett's 'escape' from the Sarlacc has been told in close to a dozen stories. Anybody who knows I'm wrong on a detail or knows more feel free to add.
We see various things, versions, times he escaped in The Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy, Tales of the Bounty Hunters, Marvel #81: Jawas of Doom (I've read this one in the b&w version in ALTA from a few years ago), and Tales from Jabba's Palace. Some other sources have more information but I don't believe it's as direct.

Yeah, I know he 'died' in RotJ it was just wierd when someone said he was dead because then I thought that he died in the EU too.
If he should make an appearance in the NJO, I think he shouldn't have a significant role. I think he should just be hired by someone to do some hunting. After The Bounty Hunter Wars, I never again want to see a novel that has Fett for a main character

If it's NJO, t hen they're adding a book. All of the scheduled NJO books have their authors already accounted for, even though Keyes' last book has no title yet.
