The long gestating 3D project that Star Wars creator George Lucas first hinted shortly after the premiere of the last live action film of the Star Wars saga has finally been confirmed. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace will be re-released in 2012 in 3D. The plan, based on the popularity of Episode 1 at the box office, will call for each subsequent entry in the franchise to be released annually. One assumes, however, that even if this latest re-release in theaters fails to be a box office winner that the eventual Blu-ray release in 3D certainly will prove successful.
